Was out on Forest Lake this past Friday night. Caught a 37 inch fish in the first 10 minutes on an orange and black double cowgirl. Didn't see anything after that for a couple hours. Overcast and big chop on the water. Trie dsome louder baits to get them noticed in the winds with no success. Finally switched over to a large Orange Manta to zip over weed beds and had one hit in 4 feet of water on it. Thought it was a weed at first because it just kept swimming towards the boat. Soon realized it wasn't a weed when it finally turned 20 feet from the boat and started stripping line out. We botched the net job and had a big angry fish hooked on the net and her mouth but outside of the net. Quickly reached down and pulled her up before she could rip herself free. She measured 49 inches. Was out the next morning as well for a half hour and lost a 40 inch fish and had a mid 40 inch swipe at a bait. Had to leave after a half hour of fishing due to the incoming storm but it was good to see that it wasn't a fluke night and they are starting to snap. Have been seeing a lot of bigger fish starting to show up. Hopefully they will be there for league night tomrrow. Good luck all! |
